I think the secret life of bees is kind like a fairy tales in the real life. Lily was trying to find something about her mother. Then she found August who was the babysitter of her mom. In the bees' farm, she grown up, she made lots of changes. In this story we can see a white girl falls in love with a black boy, people are making there dreams come true....
About the end
T.Ray told Lily that he spent more than half of summer to find her, but why at the end of story T.Ray lets Lily to stay in bees' farm. Is this mean T.Ray doesn't like his daughter or T.Ray uses his own way to love Lily?
The End
I really liked the ending of the book. It was sad, but it was also pretty nice. It ended pretty happily with Lily living in the Sisters house, and away from T.Ray. I think they all will have great lives after, even though we don't really know what will happen after. Its to bad that there isn't a sequel.
lily and zach
Lily is obviously a determined person, as we've seen this whole book, and when she wants something, she goes out and gets it. Do you think she will be the same way with Zach in the future? Will she protest and march alongside him fighting for equality, even though she is white? Do you think the mean names she gets called at school are going to slow her down, or just fire her up like T. Ray's abuse did?
wishful thinking
Is it healthy for Lily to think that T. Ray might send her a Christmas Card? It might help her cope with the idea that even though she wanted to stay with the Sisters, he did leave her. On the contrary, thinking this is just going to get her hopes up, and then when Christmas comes along and there is no card, her heart will break all over again. If it is so hurtful, what could she have done instead to help her deal?
