June Being Rude

So I just read chapter six in the book and I was surprised! When Lily decided to go up and touch the heart of the statue, June stopped playing the cello. I understand that Lily isn't black, so it's a bit unusual for her to be a part of the statue that brought hope to blacks wanting freedom, but I think that the fact that she wanted to touch the heart of the statue shows that she supports blacks gaining their freedom, and June just went and ruined her.
