Why is Rosaleen not as supportive for the civil rights movement as other African Americans? Does she believe or not believe in that Martin Luther King Jr. could end racism or have a big impact on the civil rights movement?

  1. Its not that Rosaleen isn't supportive but that she has lost hope for the movement. The loss of hope probably started when the was beaten and realized that no matter how hard she may try, she will always fail. I'm not saying thats the right attitude but it is probably the the type of thinking that caused her loss of hope. Do you think she will be able to rebudle from the incident and continue to stand up for herself and for other African Americans?

    1. i think she will regain her hope in time and that shes just wounded from realizing that even though the president said blacks have rights, no one has given them any rights so far. I think shes just sort of hidden inside herself for the moment being but that she will come back out and stand up for what she believes in.

  2. I don't think that Rosaleen lost hope in the movement, i just think that she expected too much of it. She probably expected everything to be picture perfect once it was passed, but, obviously, it wasn't.

    1. Im agree with Monmon. Before Rosaleen went to vote, she may think it is a chance for black people to be equal as white. But actually she was wrong, it is really hard for white people treat black as white in that time period.

  4. I don't think that is not supportive of it. I think that she just doesn't care anymore after taking so much racism from T. Ray or the racists in the town I guess that she has lost hope.
