In Chapter 9, Lily finally finds out that the Boatwright sisters knew her mother, and her mother stayed in that very house! She finds this out from May when May was setting up the marshmallow and graham cracker trail for the roaches. Lily remembers that her mom used to do the same thing, because May taught her to.
I feel like it's a good and bad thing that Lily keeps finding out more about her mother because she might be upset with what she discovers, but then she might spend the rest of her life wondering if she did not know the truth.
What do you guys think, do you think she should keep asking questions and focusing on her mother so much?
I think its just bringing her closer to when she'll have to wake up from this dream that Rosaleen says she is living in. And when she does "wake up" it'll be a turning point in her life, and I'm not sure if she's ready for it. Even if it goes well, she'll still have to realize that her mother is dead, and never coming back.
ReplyDeleteTo Lily, I think shes mature enough to handle the truth even if it will be upsetting. Her whole life has been a whole because her mother wasn't there, I think she wants to fill that whole with the truth of her mother.
