Life for Lily definitely gets better for Lily after August tells her about her mother. She figures out that her mother did love her, and that she isn't unloveable. I think after this, she will always feeled loved after. Do you think she will?
I think at first when she was denying being loveable she sort of shut down, but after the news she found out about her mom actually loving her a lot she was still skeptic about it but i think she will be fine and will move on with ease.
