Throughout the entire story we've seen Lily grown up a lot over the course of only one summer. This novel could be said to be a coming of age story, how is this true? Lily has found out things about her family that no young girl should ever have to hear. How do you think this will affect her in her future and outlook on life?
Lily has met many people throughout the book and they have all influenced her greatly. I think she could be part of the Civil Rights movement very soon and be a strong women because of the women she has met in her life and because of her mother.
I think her learning about her mother trying to leave without her might have made her realize that she has to grow up and not live in her fairytale world where her mother was a perfect person.
