June and Neil

Finally in chapter 10, after many many years of begging, Neil gets his wish of marrying June.

Neil pops up in the kitchen when all of the women in the house are baking like crazy for Mary Day and asks June if she would marry him. June says yes almost immediately, and if you haven't noticed that before May's suicide, she always turned Neil down. I think May being gone definitely impacted June by forcing her to open up her heart a little more to everyone, especially Neil. She knew that if she said yes, it would make May happy. So she did it and they're finally getting married!

Do you think the only reason June said yes, was because of May?

  1. I think it was May who made June realize that she should marry Neil. May's letter I think really opened June's eyes and I think the reason she said yes was because May had said that to her. I do think though that June has been wanting to say yes to Neil for a long time but couldn't bring herself to, and I think May did that for her.

  2. I think it is May that affected June's decision about Neil. May showed everyone that life is worth living and you should live it to the fullest and make it a happy life.

  3. I think she said yes because of May's letter. It had said to live life to the fullest and June said after they read that that May had told her at least a hundred times to marry Neil. I think just the combination of the letter and remembering May's words in life made June say yes to Neil.
