T.Ray vs June
Is T. Ray that bad of a father? or is he just like June? Holding grudges against the wrong people. Lily is a spitting image of Deborah, the woman T. Ray worshiped. The woman who left him. The woman who broke his heart. T. Ray shows his fear and grief through anger, and that's why he did all that to Lily. If he really hated her, wouldn't he have brought her home and continued to make her life Hell? And how can you expect T.Ray to be very close to Lily, when she is just a reminder of the worst thing that ever happened to her? I don't think he hates Lily, he is just put into a difficult situation.

I believe that since the moment that Deborah left him he became a very angry man. This event completely shifted his way of life. Later on in his life all he could see in Lily was the memory of Deborah and he couldn't send the pain, therefore his only solution was to put out all of his anger on her!
